    MEWP 2.0

    Genie Specific Rigging Operator Certification

    & Equipment Supervision Certification

    Seattle 2-3, 2019

    (Apps due October 12th)

All Riggers, Grips and Electrics should consider taking this class. It will provide you with all of the info and training needed to rig equipment with approved methods onto Genie Lift equipment

Experienced, Certified MEWP Operators  take the MEWP 2.0 to become a Certified Genie Specific Rigging Operator. You will attend two full days of classroom theory and hands on training & testing.

This course is focused on the methods and guidelines in the Special Supplement to Genie's Operator's Manual

This Manual was prepared at the express request of unions representing Set Lighting Technicians and Studio Grips in order to get the company's written permission to use the approved models listed (noted in the manual) in industry-specific ways that deviate from Genie's standard manuals for that equipment.

This Supplemental Manual contains Genie's written permission and the requirements that must be followed by specifically trained operators to enable them to use the Approved Models & methods in the manner set forth in this Supplemental Manual.

The course uses the manual provided by Genie as well as materials developed by our 488 trainers after they received their certification from Genie as trainers of the materials.

Day 1 will cover the theory portion and Day 2 is working as a group on the practical applications of Genie approved rigging and operation techniques on Genie AWP models pre-approved by the manufacturer.

    This a two day class.

Each operator will also receive a flight manual with all of the data, weights and measures, and log forms now required by ANSI

Keys or Bests who supervises member operators of Lift equipment, please sign up for this course. You have the option to attend the full two day course or to simply attend the Classroom Theory on Day 1 to qualify for your Equipment Supervision Certification.

ANSI has issued new guidelines advising that "all personnel who directly supervise MEWP operators must receive training and have an acceptable level of knowledge regarding:

1.The regulations and standards that govern the safe use and operation of equipment.

2.Identifying and choosing the right type of Aerial or Forklift for the job at hand

3.Location and use of the equipment operation manual

    4.  Recognizing and lessening potential hazards."

Keys, Department Heads, and Bests/Forepersons can meet these requirements  and receive a Equipment Supervision Certification by attending the Saturday morning, classroom theory portion on  Day 1 of the training.
